On 24 and 25 January 2013, the REAL transmitter optics were re-arranged primarily to maintain linear polarization of the laser pulses up to the beam steering unit. The improvement included replacing one flipper and one kinematic mirror mount with Newport VGM-1 gimbal mounts to stabilize delivery of the Nd:YAG pump beam and installation of two Newport VGM-2 gimbal mounts to bring the 1.5 micron wavelength pulses to the center of the table.
