NVIDIA is sponsoring the Atmospheric Lidar Research Group through its Academic Partnership Program with the donation of one NVIDIA Tesla c2070 GPU card valued at $3,999. The GPU features 6 GB of memory and 448 cores. It will be used to speed the calculation of vector flow fields derived from the lidar data. Mr. Chris Mauzey will be writing the software to perform the calculations in parallel.
Two-component horizontal vector motion fields produced by a correlation algorithm applied to REAL PPI scans collected during CHATS. The NVIDIA GPU card will be used to speed these calculations.
